About this Job
We are looking for a motivated IT wizard to steer IT at Twitter. We need someone to solidify our IT projects and processes to support our growing IT needs. The scope of this role is very broad including both hands on work and management. The ideal candidate is an entrepreneurial self-starter eager to streamline current IT operations, lead strategic projects, implement IT policies, and build company infrastructure.
Responsibilities
•Manage day-to-day IT operations, including outside consultants
•Build and maintain internal IT infrastructure including VPN, networks, telecommunication equipment and employee machines
•Anticipate, plan and implement strategic IT projects
•Secure company IT assets and networks
•Negotiate and manage all IT related contracts with outside vendors and contractors
•Communicate and enforce company-wide security and best-practice related IT policies
Qualifications
•5-10 years of experience on an IT team at a consumer web company, preferably at a start up.
•Experience creating business processes from requirements, writing functional specifications and product research summaries, architecting and integrating systems, and developing web-based applications.
•Ability to effectively manage a team and use limited, available resources to overcome obstacles, meet deadlines within budget and accomplish corporate goals.
•Ability to provide effective customer service personally and through IT staff management.
•Ability to build relationships across the organization to effectively predict and satisfy needs.
•Broad technical background
•Systems administrator level experience with operating systems, networking technologies and infrastructure management practices
•Project management experience managing medium to large sized projects. Must be able to prioritize and manage multiple tasks and projects
•Strong knowledge of Internet format and languages
•Strong knowledge of mid and high-end database technologies
•Strong experience with client/server databases and reporting tools
•Demonstrated problem solving skills in areas such as technical resource allocations, technical issues with web based hardware and software, business process efficiency problems, and product feature feasibility.
•Ability to communicate technical concepts effectively to various audiences
•Extensive knowledge of computer hardware, software technology, current developments in marketplace
•B.S. in Management of Information Systems or Computer Science or equivalent education and experience
